New job may be in my future

Been burned out at work and been eyeing some jobs over on the Oregon coast.

Found one that would be a pay raise for me and I interviewed yesterday. I think it went well as they had me sign the paperwork for the background checks and sent me over for a drug test afterward. Figure they would not go through the trouble if they were not interested in hiring me.

Will hear back from HQ next week and I hope it is with a job offer. Would put me in the same town as my mother and most of my family, which is why we moved down from Alaska in the first place.

Good luck with that. Study hard for the drug test.

Well, I got the job and the nice raise that came with it.

Been busy the last three weeks getting moved and settled into my new position. I really like the job so far and it is much less stressful than my previous job.

Wife and kids are happy with life on the coast and things are looking better than they have in a long time.

Just got a promotion yesterday.  Mainly just a title change that means I passed probation and am now eligible for the management bonus program.    

District manager said that I will probably have my own store in a few years.  Couple of the managers along the coast are going to retire and they are looking for new blood.

Good job, family is happy (my daughters are laughing and being 'normal' for the first time in ages), and life overall is better than it has been for the last few years. Leaving Alaska was the best thing we ever did. I still miss all my friends up there, but this is a much better environment to raise a family in.

And I am thinking of going the opposite route and moving to either the Canadian Yukon territory or possibly to Alaska whence I retire. Of course I won't be bringing any family I'll be going up there alone. I do know a few people who will welcome me when I do arrive there so it won't be like everyone is a total stranger to me.

Otherwise I am glad to hear things are working out for you. That is definitely good news.

Kids grow up so fast but to them it is an eternity. If that eternity is not a happy one, it is a longer eternity for them. I hope things work out great for you and your family, Mike.
