Dedicated Fax Line

Post  N2IZE on Tue Sep 24, 2013 3:09 pm

Over the last few weeks I have been getting more and more hints that we need a dedicated fax line installed. For years we mainly just sent faxes over a voice POTS and later on a VOIP line. But lately the need to receive faxes became more and more apparent. So I added a dedicated and optimized fax line. For the "Fax Machine" I use a free fax server/software called Hylafax installed on a Linux server that also provides a multitude of other services, i.e. Web, DNS, ftp, mail, DHCP Gateway and many other services.Sending a fax is a breeze and receiving faxes is equally as simple. The person just faxes to my faxnumber, the server handles all the rest and sends the user the incoming fax attached to an email as a pdf attachment. Just tested it via a free faxback service and it seems to be working A-OK.
