TT Eagle

So, I know there are only a few of us here at the moment but does anyone have an Eagle or have you had the chance to play with one? Have been considering it as a second rig when I land back stateside. So far what I gather is that it is a good little rig with a few small downfalls, drawbacks rather. Then again, that only applies if you intend to use said features.

For instance, the optional internal tuner is HF only, no six. No big deal, particularly for those that intend to run QRO.

Another thing that I cant seem to find information on is if there is an internal 8 band EQ. IIRC even the lowly jupiter had an EQ. That aside, it seems that they get great audio reports.

Simply looking at it for a dedicated rig for 160/80/10 ragchew with good audio both on RX/TX. It would be the second radio in the line up, the first being a K3 and full K-line.

Thoughts, opinions, suggestions on the subject?

You know, the more I look at the eagle the more realizations I make. I really seem to have an attraction to the Eagle and the K3. However the more I look the more pitfalls I find. Most of this is due to the design which may be because of the size.

So far I have found no new info on the EQ subject but I don't think any kind of mic EQ is present. Also, the mic reports of the mic gain being low, particularly for aftermarket mics seem to be common. The limited filter slots are a bugger too. This would be less problematic for me if the FM and AM filter/boards were not installed in filter slots but so far I can only confirm that for the FM board. It is only problematic for me because I would want AM reception. Fortunately this could be done via the FM board/filter. However, I would want both the 1.8 SSB narrow filter and the two CW filters 600/300 but that can't happen. Also, it seems that the IMD of 6m is out of spec when in low power but this may have been resolved.

On a better note, IF out has been added to the newer factory runs.

I am still curious to test this radio.

PS: For god sake, get rid of the DIN connectors. This goes for all companies.

Still hoping to hear from someone with this rig in their shack. I would love to hear about it, as a few questions, and maybe take it for a test spin.
